  • Anyone ever seen an A1000 pump w/-12AN inlet?

I was under the impression that the A1000 had -10 AN in/out, but this pump I picked up off a buddy of mine is def. an A1000 and def. -12 inlet.

I assume this wont be an issue (other then needing a -10 to -12 fitting for my filter).

    Here is a picture:

I have one. I did some research and about half say that the older A1000's came that way and the other half say that the older Eliminator series came that way.

The only A1000 I had, had -10 fittings but the fittings were already installed (maybe -12 to -10 adapters?).

You sure its a A1000 and not a Eliminator or something else? I would call Aeromotive and get the low down straight from the source if your unsure. Also ask them how reliable those older models are. I thought I remember hearing the older ones are junk but I could be wrong.

Weird, the one I had was -10.

After some research it looks like it is probably an eliminator which I hear have a great deal of problems (esp. w/high heat and cavitation). Only other option would be a marine A1000 which have -12 inlets. I will try calling Aeromotive but it doesn't appear (other then the date) that there are any unique markings on this to determine which pump it is. I wish Aeromotive would have made the pumps more easily distinguishable.

Oh, something I forgot to mention is those are not AN threads your measuring. You have to use special fittings to go from the pump to AN. Its a oring fitting. Maybe that is why it seems bigger?

Yes, you are right...I don't know why I kept calling them AN sizes.

Oh, and one end is clearly bigger then the other.

They should make oring fittings that will screw into that and have a -10 end, check your local diesel supply store if you can't find one from a mail order place.

There is a four digit number stamped on the outside, call aeromotive and talk to them they can give you the info off of that. I had to when I sent mine in to get rebuilt.

They are AN threads, ANY -12,-10 fitting would work (whatever size you need), you just have to grind/turn/sand the flare portion off and add the oring to be "correct". If it's on the inlet side of the pump, I don't even bother most of the time.

Funny you say that, the aeromotive inlet filter that came with the pump had a -12 AN fitting on it and it screwed right in. Where do you find the replacement o-rings?

I ordered a bunch of extras from summit or jegs. You can usually goto oriellys or autozone and they have a box of o-rings behind the counter. If you cant find one and you're not too far from me I have extras.

aeromotive sells them, summit or jegs has them. traditional orings would probably work too
