The power/dollar ratio of an lsx is hard to beat.

8k rpm 289 or 306 would be cooler... I don't get the LS swap craze.

I agree about the 289. A guy did a build on the same short block I have but ran some nice ($$$) parts on it. Made 420ish hp at the crank.

me thinks a junkyard lsx w/a cam would beat it!

I think the word Sacrilegious might be a bit strong, as I don't have any problem with modifying any car, classic or not. To each their own. I have lots of respect and admiration for the folks doing the LSx swaps.

I think the classic coupes are still somewhat plentiful, so its not like you're cutting up a one-of-a-kind car. Put whatever you think you want in there. And, like stated before, it can be undone in the future.

That being said, I offer my opinion. While I don't call it brand loyalty, by definition I guess it is. I just think ford should be powered by ford, and chevy powered by chevy. Again, thats my opinion. I just think its a cleaner "look". I also think its easier for future owners, family or not, to work on. The further removed it gets from the original installer, the more the details get lost or forgotten. I know thats not an immediate problem, but its one I think about.

I think it has something to do with the unreal power, efficiency, and drivability you get with such a small price tag.

valvetrain alone on your 8k rpm SBF would probably buy a complete running LS1

Funny you mention this, I have parts on my car from different cars from every decade since 1960 to present! (60's transmission, 70's actual car, 80's rear end, 90's a/c, body work, 2000's engine/intake, 2010's fuel injectors/oil pan/manifold)

i still think its ghey to put a chevy mortor in something other that a fox chassis. the whole selling point is its cheaper to make power with the lsx. but thats like being lazy and taking a shortcut. hell if you want an aluminum block buy a aftermarket ford 4bolt main motor, sure it will cost more but you will get more props from everyone and still be accepted at ford events to race or show.

like i said shortcuts are ok on a fox but not on a nice old 60's coupe.

just do an msd front mount dizzy, a carb, and get some custom machined ford (lsx) valve covers, paint the engine ford blue and i bet tons of folks would believe you when you said it was a 351w
