  • It's time to start planning upgrades for my coupe.

Current set up: All mods and rebuild, and assembly, were done at JKS in Mansfield prior to me buying it, I confirmed the build through Josh:

95 short block punched out .30 over now its a 306.
    Eagle 4340 forged crank
    Eagle Rods 5950FP
    Pistons Speedpro forged ZL2482F30 pistons
    ARP bolts though out.

Heads were GT40s ported Josh said 190/160 and milled 60cc the taped for studs.- thinking TFS heads

    1.7 scorpion RR's

Cam is a E cam- where I am wanting change

    TFS Track Heat intake

65mm TB- needs to be at least 70 I know
    76mm pro m maf
    30 lb injectors

    bbk shorties

    x pipe

    suspension

mega bite jr upper and lowers
    eibach drag springs
    kyb shocks
    eaton posi
    31 spline axles
    3.73 gears

    Trex fuel pump

braided fuel lines to the fire wall
I have been running a 75/25 mix of E85 and it works well.

    Additional
    No smog
    Tremec Trans

    The car seems set up.

    Cam thoughts:

F cam vs TFS stage 1

Heads These ported GT40s vs TFS or Edelbrock

What do you guys think? I need more track time, as I was crap last sat at the track, this car before ran 8.1s in the middle of winter, with a old motor. I can nearly bet, I can get a 8.0 or faster as it sits. My goal is 7.7-7.4. What do you guys think? Help me build this combo. The car only has 3500 miles on the new motor. I will say, the E cam has suprised the heck out of me. I always though an emissions friendly cam would not be nearly as good as a non emissions friendly cam. Onjacks has me really wanting a stock turbo build, so lets keep boost or juice in mind as well. I am at full weight, and with a/c.

Have you looked at any anderson cams? Tfs heads with anderson cams seem to put good power down and perform well. The anderson>tfs1>letter cam

Yes custom cam is definitely ideal if your willing to spend the cash. Those are excellent heads as well

For the money you will spend, go with a turbo. That setup, as is with a $1500 turbo kit will get you close to 500 rwhp. You could sell your exhaust and injectors to cover a btm box, wideband & new injectors.

It's just hard to justify all that $ for a little hp gain.

Fwiw I plan to lay down 450+ with a stock motor.

Although a nice high revving coupe would sound sweet.

Yea true. But good heads is always a good platform for future mods. If it were me i wouldnt go boosting it to that power unles i had a dart block.

Or you can sell me your short block and go 351w.

Trick flow tw heads and Anderson n41 cam should work or just throw a turbo on it.

Instead of spending all that money to make more power (maybe), how about buying some tires and heading to the track? If you think you have another .7 of potential just sitting there, then prove it. You won't gain much from a cam swap anyway, the E-cam isn't terrible.

Personally I wouldn't rip into it until you have some defined goals - turbo or nitrous, ET/mph you're shooting for, street car vs race car, etc. Until you make those choices, no one can make an informed head and cam decision for you.

I think you need to get the current setup working and down the track before you ad more power . After that I would do a power adder with the current build . No need to spend all that money to gain 50 whp at the top of the rpm band in your street car . If the motor had more ci then I could see changing the heads . The cam is a cheap swap but the E will work fine with boost and drive fine on the street .

Yea the ecam isnt bad. I have it with my gt40s. Only driveability issue i have with it is it tries to die when i disengage the clutch. Does your car have that issue?
