$2000 for HIDs is not needed.

    Give these a try.

These are also fun but you may have trouble powering them on your jeep. They need about 160 amps at 28 volts.

They are also great for home defense. Anyone entering without wearing a welding hood will not be doing much fighting; I have 4 of them.

You can also see a visible reflection off of the moon with them when the moon is dark. You may also get a visit from DHS if you play with them too much.

Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

I'm sure you meant that as a joke.. but if they were a little cheaper i'd probably make a mount for one and let someone in the back work it. Making a 24volt system is pretty easy.

Those HID's are definitely cheap... but I'm weighing some ebay specials with a 60 day warranty against KC light housings with a 30 year warranty, and DDM HID kits with a lifetime warranty for 1/3rd the price. I do see what you're saying with the housings and the reflectors though. I wish there was some manfacturers of 8" housings that were reasonable. It wouldn't be TOO difficult for me to weld on metal boxes to the back of the housings so I could fit the ballasts inside. It is nice to see some affordable alternatives, I appreciate you helping me out with that. I may still consider them. I would have to order 5 of them and I'd be about $500 deep in some ebay specials.

Lynn is the guy selling the big lights and he will probably take $600 + shipping for the VSS-1 light. The mount that it comes with is designed for an old school army jeep. Powering it on burst mode will be the only problem. 4 27 series batteries will keep it going for a little under an hour on the normal setting. It also has an IR filter and night vision takes on a whole new meaning when you use the VSS-1.

The ballast ARE inside of the light housings on most all of the 8" off road style lamps.

Why do you have to run 5 lights?

I just finished the damn light bar and it's built for 5 lights. I'll be damned if I start over again, haha.

Those HID lights don't even mention their wattage?

The little one is 2000 watts and the big one is 4500 watts.

I'm talking about the ones on ebay. It seems rugged ridge rebrands htese same lights in 7". It seems they are all 35w

I think I might convert all 5 of my lights for $100 to 55w each then gamble on these much more expensive ones. Even if the light pattern stinks, it will still do better than what I was planning on. Placing the ballasts is going to be a little weird though.

                BINGO!

wouldn't have believed it myself if I hadnt seen it.
amazing how much HID's put out.
sorry you built your light bar for 5 lights dude, but realistically now a days 5 lights have zero purpose.

after seeing my HID's , 1 is MORE THAN ENOUGH. im not kidding . Iam going to run 20' leads of wiring (try that with 8 gauge easily) on both.
run one HID for the front, one for the rear usage.

Honestly these HF HIDs are so damn bright, it's about to much to use one for repair / working on the 4x4.
It would be blinding at close range. Just one!
i want mine all removable with a psuedo handle built on to them for rabbit popping etc at night. 9" seems big and they are, but they are lightweight

another note, not trying to be a dick, but the reason i didn't want them on top of the blazer is because trees will hit them and shit.
im going to run them backwards in the frontal area , next to factory round lights (79 k5 blazer)
hopefully backwards will keep the lenses clean enough and undamaged. seeing how i don't have covers.
