Why not try leaving it alone since it is probably your only wheels? Don't mod your ONLY DAILY! When you have to replace the distributor, spend the money on an MSD and not a stock replacement. It will be better suited to resist the water pump leakage issues.

with opti's is a hit or miss and several cars ive seen and rode in with the msd's missfired and ran like crap.

I think you did good. For the money you got a good enough car and it's not a Honda.

The optispark issue does suck I went through 4 on my ws6 But mine had a small cam. Full exhaust and 4.10 ( 6 speed) and went 8.48 on motor. I ended up breaking the rear end and had 3.73 put back in and put NOS on it. It was really fun to drive but never made it back to the track

Corvette is much lighter, much cooler, much better rear end, thousands of creature comforts ( transmission temp, oil temp, and anything else you want to know) Bose sound system, better handling car, faster. You name it.

I'll pass on a trashed rental car interior and 170k on an ugly ls1 camaro. Lol
