I can't comment on putting the pump in the tank, however, one thing for you to check is the ground wire for the pump. I drive an S-10 and they are notorious for having a problem with the ground wire.

Fuel filter, regulator or the pump works but doesn't move volume.

Does it have gas in it?

Yes has gas in the tank. I hear the pump go on now, but it doesnt turn off after 5 to 20 seconds. It just stays going, Its not moving any fuel to the rails, I checkied the nipple at the fuel rail & nothing & car just turns & turns

I wouldn't think its a pump issue with it being a different pump since you discovered the issue.

Unless I missed it, did you replace the fuel filter?
If the pump is running and you aren't getting fuel at the rail, is something blocking it?

Try taking the fuel line off the outlet side and have someone turn the key on and see if you get gas out of the filter?

Another easy thing to eliminate possibly??

He any other ideas as to why the Fuel Pump comes on & stays on when I Key on the car, but doesnt move any fuel up to the rails besides maybe the fuel filter being clogged?

                      The pump is bad.

I have been researching this & getting different ideas

                        1. Bad ECM ( NOT FIRING INJECTORS )
                        2. Bad Relays ( IM NOT SOLD ON THIS YET)
                        3. Fuel Filter Clogged up ( This sounds like a problem I should at least elimnate)
                        4. BAD FUEL Pump ( Your suggestion Mike)

Either way the pump with the key in the on posistion just constantaly stays running till I turn the key off & will not start or push fuel to the rails

Its not making pressure, if the ECM were bad you'd still have fuel pressure from the pump.

You stated you do not have fuel pressure and the pump is constantly running, the vanes in the pump are shot and it cannot move the fuel or sustain any pressure. You can take the inlet line to your filter off and turn the key, if no fuel comes out you are faced with 2 options, the pump is bad or it's not sitting in fuel.

Have you checked the fuel regulator to make sure it's not fubar'd? I'd doubt it would bypass all the fuel and make zero pressure but the possibility is still there, pull the vac line and see if there is fuel.

Mike does the tank need to be completely installed up in the straps. The tank is on the ground with the pump sealed with the ring that seals the fuel pump n the tank & the sock is inside the tub

That would depend on the amount of fuel in the tank, other then that it shouldn't matter unless it's messing with the lines.
