4 cyc Conversion Coupe Fuel Pump not priming

Fuel pump issues suck on foxes. I dicked with a 89 4 banger with a bad pump for the longest time. I never did get it running, even after replacing the pump, filter, relays, and fuel pressure regulator. Please let me know if you figure it out, so I can book mark this thread for future reference.

Well im back to messing with my Black Primer Coupe, It still has the same problem. Cranks & the fuel pump works great. But doesnt turn over. I checked the fuel nipple at the rail with the fuel pump on & the key in the on posistion & still no fuel out the nipple. I remember changing out the stock Dizzy for a MSD Pro Billet on the car & thats when my problem started

Well when I pulled the MSD Dizzy. The oil pump shaft came out with it & the oil pump shaft wont come off either. I slid the Distributor back in place & it bolted back in fine.

Going to replace
Fuel Pump
Swap out coils
Wanted to try a different Distributor, But with the Oil Pump shaft stuck to the end of the MSD Dist, Im not sure what to do

Crank the engine a few times then check fuel rail pressure. Do you have a gauge on the line?

I'm betting the used pump you put in was bad. Assuming used since you stated it was sitting in your garage.

Have you tried using starting fluid? This will allow you to ensure the ignition is working correctly and allow you to concentrate on just the fuel system.

Just spray starting fluid in the throttle body?

Also I put the pump in a small bucket with gas in it & the pump turns on & runs. But im not sure if its moving fuel. But I hear it run & run till I shut the key off. Also there is no fuel that comes out the fuel nipple on the fuel rails when the key is on & the pump is running

Ok fuel is coming out the nipple now! It sprayed out when I pressed the nipple. So what do I check next?

Trick to getting a socket to slip in to change out the Ignintion Control Module? I cant get a small socket to fit down in there!

Had to grind a socket down to fit down in there

Well I think I got it fixed. If the car is popping it means it trying right?

On a good note. I think my fuel pump issue is fixed now & the car should fire right up once I Re Stab the Distributor
