  • Lets talk Honda Pocket Power, Im in the Market for one

With gas going to hit over $4 this year I find myself driving to Kaufman at least once a week & once a week to my place in Rockwall! I relize I need a car that gets 35+ mpg! Im wanting something that has good power & still gets good mileage

I know Honda has a few different motors

    B16
    B20
Vtec ( prolly one of the above)

But in short im green when it comes to Honda Performance! But I talked to a guy with B20 CRX who said he runs low 13s & still knocks down 35mpg & I couldnt help but be interested considering my daily driver is a 06 4.0 Mustang that gets at best 24 mpg and on the norm 20 mpg

So what motor should I start looking for when it comes to HP with these Hondas? Also what else should I be looking for? If anyone knows a friend selling a quick Honda. Please send me a PM! Im in the market for one My budget is $2500 to $4000 MAX also has to have AC & Heat

My wife drives an 09 civic si, she gets shitty mileage because she drives it like she is in a go cart race.

A good choice is a '94-'01 Acura Integra GS-R. Very fun high revving VTEC engine and nice shifting tranny. Will also get good gas mileage. Won't set the road on fire but light, handle well, and fun engine.

Let me tell you this much, avoid the 98-02 Honda Accords with an automatic at all costs, the transmission is junk.

                  Intergra gsr or regular Ls

I'm not up on the new shit, but i was spraying my old teg Ls way before the fast and the crappy came out.

I know in the old days a block guard an a turbo with a good tune you could have alot of fun. v-tec bleh give me more boost.

I had a 2000 Civic Si with the B16 and it was a fun car. I was seeing 32mpg in town and that was with me ragging on it all the time. It's basically the same thing as a Integra GSR with 20 less hp and usually at a cheaper price. They respond well to a header, cat delete, and good flowing exhaust.

b16 is imo the best dohc vtec motor, great R to S ratio and with valve train work it'll rev to 11k rpms. I had one in a 95 hatch and it made 310hp to the wheels, one of my favorite cars.

i just picked up a 96 civic ex with a 2001 gsr motor. it is a fun little car, it likes to rev.

motor swaps are cheap and easy for these cars.
