I assume the 100 bucks is either a prop valve (although holding the car doesn't seem to be a problem yet) and/or the "device a way to hold gate shut for a second".

If you could explain a little further I'd really appreciate it because the way I thought it worked was that the gate would be shut at lower boost levels. I don't know the exact cracking pressure but I always imagined it wouldn't be much lower then the pressure that it maintains (but again I could be way off). How can you force it shut without a thousand dollar ams1000 or the like?

Oh, and one other question, how valuable is a turbo blanket and wrapping the hot side? Will this make any noticeable decrease in spool times?

I don't think the turbo blanket will make any appreciable amount of difference. Not worth the money imho.

It keeps heat off of stuff. Thats the only reason I have one on mine.

Per my logs I don't hit full boost until 2nd gear btw.

              lol

Agreed, but in our cars - particularly mine, it's not needed. I guess it depends on what's close to it - your car has a lot more shit near the turbo than most of what i work on.

Best boost controller I ever used cost about 75 bucks to build.

what we did on your car is exactly what we're doing on his - minus the control method.

Your AMS has a feature already built into it that does what I'm talking about. It depends on how you have it wired up. last we talked, I think yours is wired up different that how we do them.
