JOHN's new shop/garage

So for the last several months John's house has been remodeled with an addition. With the arrival of another son, he wanted another bed room added. To do that they converted the garage. If you know John you know that going without a garage just isn't going to happen so he upgraded a little and build a shop at his house.

The old 2 car garage was enclosed and made into a nice size bedroom, closet and full bathroom for Luke, his 4 y/o boy.

The shop 25' wide X 32' deep with 12.5' walls and a 2 car garage door and a walk in door on the back yard wall.

He wanted me to post some pics now that it is 99.99% complete as of last night after we plumbed the compressor.

We did an epoxy coat and then a few days later went back with a poly coat

Ok that's most of the pics I have on my phone. Hopefully John will be able to add a few pics of the bricked in old garage so you can see that it doesn't look like a garage conversion, it just looks like this house was built with a shop instead of a normal garage in the house.

Nice set-up!! I'm jelly too. It looks great in there.

One note: He should have made an "outhouse" for the compressor. Just my opinion but hey, it's nicer than what I have.

funny you should say that... he has a building that used to have the compressor in it when he worked out of his 2 car garage and it was nice because you couldn't hear it...
He thought about putting a little out house on the back of this for the compressor but didn't.

I mentioned maybe building a little "room" for it right were it is to try to help reduce the noise.

we will see how bad it is... if its too bad I bet we end up running power back out to the other building (it had to be moved for the shop and that's why the compressor isn't in it now)

we are going to add a few things tonight. I'll take more pics and post them after we do

oh and its kind of hard to tell in the pics but there are electrical outlets EVERYWHERE... there are 9 I think at the top of the walls that are all on one switch for signs so he can turn off all the lights and leave on any signs he has plugged in up there.

There are 2 different 220 spots in the breaker panel, 1 for the compressor and 1 for the other 4 220 outlets, that way he will never be using 2 220 devices at the same time on one breaker (compressor can run while the plasma or welder are going without overloading and tripping a breaker)

I think 5 different 4 plug clusters along the back wall just above the work bench and tool box area and numerous 110 outlets all around the shop and in the ceiling
