  • Got a 94 Ranger for free!

Well IT has the 2.3 in it. IT runs rough, someone has put new wires on it and im thinking they switched em up since there's 8 on there. Any known problems with these trucks? Its also a 5 speed.

Once fixed, they will last forever if you maintain it.

Haha. It'll be my beater, because my 84 C10 gets like 8mpg. But Turned out it was 180 out. Lol. But it runs better. Probably needs plugs and oil change. Got an exhaust leak by the header some where. So it's loud!

I assume you drained the 3 year old gas and added fresh gas?

Also, if it jumped a tooth on the timing belt that wouldn't just make it miss on one cylinder.

Well when i took out the plugs, number 3 on intake side looked like this.

Looked like the piston came up and ate the plug?

Put a new timing belt, new plugs, new oil, new gas. And it runs fine when rpm is up but at idle it sounds like it has a big cam. Could it be vacuum leak or something else? Its got a big exhaust leak to. Would that cause it run rough at idle?

Pretty sure it has a dead cylinder.. Number 3. Or the rocker arm is off or busted valve. Ill have to pull the valve cover tomorrow.

So in assuming its a bent valve. Any good place to take a 2.3 head to have it re worked?
