  • Those with Strange 10 way shocks

How are those of you running the Strange 10 way’s setting them up for 275’s? I tried to get some traction with my current setup on Sunday (Wolfe anti-roll, Strange 10 ways in the rear w/stock V8 springs, Lakewood 90/10’s with coil over kit (14” 150lb springs) and did not have much success. Best 60’ was a 1.55 and that was leaving very lazy and no boost at all. I tried leaving at 8 psi and 3 psi and just blew the tires off. Brooks was out there and was nice enough to watch me leave a couple of times and mentioned that my front stocks seemed to not be working with my current setup. I just put an order in for some Strange 10 way front shocks that “should” work with my current coil over setup. They “should” be here by the end of the week so hopefully I’ll get a chance to T&T on them before the cruise.

Anyway, first of all, both the front and rears are 10 way single adjustable. What exactly is the adjustment, is it compression, rebound, or a combination? Secondly, what should I be looking for, I always assumed you want the rear to squat, the front to raise (putting more weight on the rear), and you don’t want the rear bouncing up after the initial hit as that unloads the tires. If that is true my guess would be somewhere around a level 3-4 in the rear and somewhere around 7-8 in the front. This could be way off so I am looking to those who have their short game in check to give me a little guidance.

On a side note, any tips/tricks for anti-sway bar settings on 275's?

I have the 10 adjustable shocks in the rear and 10 adjustable strut in the front. But had no luck with my car.. To many problems.. I need some rear springs

I've got them on my convertible but haven't had the chance to test them out. Mine aren't on coilovers either. I'd guess that a 7-8 in the front and a 5 in the back would be a good start....

I would say the front springs are too light as well. Where is your coilover kit adjusted to, to get the ride height you want?

Do you have an aluminum block or Iron block LS ?

I could be mistaken but I thought with the radials you wanted the rear to be stiff and the front to rise and s l o w l y come back down to prevent unloading. Also make sure you are running enough air in the radials. I only had about 400 horse. I had my back shocks on six I believe and 3 on the fronts.

I have the same suspension setup as you and have never been able to hook on drag radials on nitrous. I've tried just about every setting too. I just put slicks on.

I would like to try to get it to hook on a night they are running the 275 classes since it would be super sticky.

i wish they'd do more "drag radial/slicks only" nights at kdale. they did that on the grudge wars night and the track was great. sucks they don't do it more often. i'm sure this will piss some folks off, but anyone who is serious about racing should at least be on drag radials. and large trucks with huge all terrains and mud tires should stay off the track.

Sorry, I got the numbers backwards... I meant 2-3 on the front and 5 in the back.... close to what the others said above...

There are a ton of variables. First off those rear springs are hurting you. What tire pressure are you running? What spring rate do you have in the front?

I would start with setting the shocks at:
Both fronts at 4, left rear at 5 and right rear at 6. Start there and see what it gets you. Also I would suggest getting coilovers for the rear and having the car corner balanced. After that is done then you can start playing with shock settings.

The springs he has are what Wolfe say to run......same reason I run em.

I would START half way on the rears and about 3 from loose on the front.

thanks, that seems to be the consensus here and what is listed on the strange installation manual. i'm going to try them out at kdale tomorrow.
