Exhaust leak detection

What is yalls method of finding a leak? Started my coupe for the first time today and noticed a loud leak form the driver side header. I tightened all the bolts and even the collector bolts. Still fairly loud. Now I assume it might be a good ol' tiny hole or something.

Normally you'll find soot where the leak is. I recommend using a small mirror, like a dentist uses, to look all around the flanges and collector bolts.

Visual, feeling for pulsing air with your hand (cold start, obviously), a piece of hose to your ear, or

tanner, Use some high temp rtv on the ball flanges probably bent up alittle.

Make it smoke and follow the smoke.

Take a shop vac that is also a blower, attach the hose to the blower end, then jam the hose up the tail pipe. Then go under with soapy water and find the bubbles.

BTW guys , I think we need to congradulate Tanner for basicly doing his first motor swap and start up by him self . He did a great job on it .

did you make sure the smog ports at the back of the head were pluged?

being the baller that i am, i use a 2ft. section of 3/8 rubber hose. works flawlessly.

Yes. Used the block off plates that we found on the old motor. I just think I was sold some crappy headers.
