    So yesterday at the track I found out I have an interesting problem, releasing my line lock causes my innovate wideband controller to flat line. It reads fine up to the point that I release the linelock, at that point it goes to the lowest AFR and flatlines there. Only way to get it back is to restart the car (made for an interesting dance at the starting line so I could get some logs (had to shut the car off after the burnout to reset the wideband then turn it back on and start logging).

    Anyway, I went over the wiring and can't see any problem there, they don't share powe source, and they are separately grounded. Only thing I can think of now is that the innovate controller and the line lock are in too close of proximity (line lock is right above dist block on shock tower and controller is on top of the shock tower, prob 8-10inch away). Since the line lock is basically just an electromagnet could it be strong enough to zap the wideband? If so could I wrap the controller in something like foil to test this theory? Any other possibilities I may not be considering?

          Do you have a relay on the line lock? If no then put one on there. My Innovate LC1/Line lock combo would do the exact same thing. I went back through the Innovate ans soldered every single connection and established a better ground. Never had an issue since.

            No relay, it is so close to the power distribution block I was just feeding it constant hot and ground through the switch. I'll add a relay and see. Was your giving you issue as soon as you released the line lock?

                remove the line lock.

                  line lock solonoid

                  releasing any coil will cause a back emf spike, kind of like a ignition coil fireing. put a surge supressor across the coil wires on the line lock, it will short out the voltage the coil discharges if that's what's doing it.

                    they relay seems to have solved the problem, if it persists i'll look into this, thanks for the advice

                          wow, didn't know there was so little love for the line lock. the reason i added one was that for some reason my trans/converter did not like burnouts against the rear brakes. the trans would simply not shift gears and with the loose converter in 1st you had to be at ~5k to get the wheel speed to just 25mph. now that i've added the line lock the trans shifts perfect through the burnout, easily maintains 60+mph burnouts in 2nd at a lot less rpm, trans temp is a lot lower, and i'm not killing the rear brakes. i talked to mike about why my trans would be doing that and he was stumped, only reason we could come up with is that the aerospace rear brakes were biting too hard and causing an insane load on the trans/converter.

                          besides the possibility of the line lock seizing in the "on" position (which i'd imagine would only be likely when it is engaged (which for me is only during the burnout), what is the "danger"? (not being a smart ass, just curious, seems like it'd fail "off"

                            Stick cars have been known to launch with them on and they pull the wheels then land with it still on due to malfunction or human error.

                            What I heard once.
