I ask because my '98 Mark VIII has been leaking oil over the last 3 months from the same location. It started as just a small drip and gradually increased until I needed to add a quart of oil each week over the last few weeks to keep the oil level up. No oil / water mix.

The new Felpro gasket costs $5.99. I've spent a lot more than that in oil over the last few weeks.

Yesterday was the first nice day that I had the free time available to tackle this problem. I finally got it done but it would have helped if I was a contortionist with tiny hands. There is absolutely no room on the bottom side of the Mark VIII engine bay to work easily. What a pain in the back side. I wanted to call Paul too but my stubborn streak refused to let me do that.

My leak appears to be dry now. I hope that it stays that way.....now to get the driveway clean!

What really sucks is that I changed that same gasket on my Mark VIII swapped mustang in about 20 minutes. The Mark VIII K member location just SUCKS.

I'm jealous. My hands are sore from wedging into too small of a space & have cuts all over them. That gasket can be changed easily on the Mark VIII's if you remove the PS pump but that is another pain in the backside.

Oh I have been there. It's such a suck job on the mark viii, but move the K member back 6 inches and it becomes a breeze.

I put about 500 miles on it this week, and no water in the oil as of yet. At least, not showing on the dipstick. I'm still losing water somewhere though.

The mark 8 is not so bad if you remove the wheel and cover there some holes in the fender well that help you get to the bolts. Also my mark 8 blew out and was dumping water into the crank case screwed it up pretty good probably doubled the 6 qts that was in there with coolant by the time I reposed it had gone out.

Now you tell me about the access holes in the inner fender!I used plenty of short words yesterday while laying on the concrete looking up!
