  • Questions on fullsize Broncos

Anyone have any experiences with them like what to look out for when buying one, what to expect to go out and what not? Also 351 or 302? The I'm looking at year models below 1991, preferably late 70's early 80's. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Randy

95-96 are the best years. 302 with 5 speed and mass air.

Pretty standard stuff similar to buying any used car, look for rust, wear and a solid drive train. Late 70's and early 80's Broncos will have the 351m, not a preferable engine unless you have a penchant for them. As for other pre 1990 models, the 351w is generally your best bet. While the 302 is not a bad performer, you will get similarly poor mpg with less power with the 302. That said, for a driver, it is very difficult to beat a mid 90's model for all around quality. The older models have a certain rough appeal that gives them a lot of character, though.

Question on the newer models though. Doesn't it make the truck non-street legal to take the top off since it has the 3rd brake light and rear seat belt straps tired into the top?
