yeah i know dumpycapri85 told me i may need new ones, he was right i did.Was on a really tight budget at the time so i didn't do it when i built the motor.

No, the motor has less then 3k miles on it. I just like seeing 60 lbs of OP on my mechanical gauge.

My work car (91 honda civic ) gets whatever is on sale or free at my shop . And gets serviced somewhere between 5000 and 10000 miles . Just now at 365,000 miles has the factory head gasket failed and due to the age it's retired . The advances in oil since the old days are crazy . Run whatever and keep it full and you will have something fail well before the bearings wear out . Ps the car is beat on like a pit bull in the ghetto . And the head gasket failure is due to a OE heater hose failure after 21 years of abuse .

If it was so good atleast one manufacturer would use it as a factory fill and the only folks that drag it in to my shop are the type that have a automotive tin foil hat on and magnets on their fuel line . If it was so good it would be more popular . I see good commercials for all sorts of shit at 3:00 am .

I couldn't care less about who drags what in to your "shop" and I never touted anything as being "so good". Just curious to know how Amsoil as a company compares to Amway. So, Amsoil runs 3a.m. infomercials? Good to know. What oils are used by what manufacturers as a factory recommended fill?

I guess i will qualify as a tinhat for saying this but... manufacturers don't want their engines to last forever. That would be real bad for business

That's the way I feel about it as well. I used it a few times in the mid 90's and back then it was something like $60 for oil and filter and recommended 7K change. Fuck that. I used a conventional brand on a car that had 23K miles on it and drove it to 210K miles with absolutely no issues. Engine never burned a drop. All I did was change it every 3K miles religiously.

A friend of mine has a 5.3 chevrolet with over 400k miles. For the past 120k miles he has NEVER changed the oil or filter. The truck has an oil leak, so he add oils when it leaks out. The truck doesn't smoke at all and runs fine to this day. My point is, if he can do that and use the cheapest oil he can find, what the hell makes one think oil brands really make that big of a difference? I mean, I use good oil in my cars for peace of mind, but his situation has to make you scratch your head.
