  • Head gasket 91 explorer. ?'s

I was just given a 91 explorer with a 4.0 v6. Everything on it is good, even the a/c and 5 speed. But it has a blown head gasket. The guy said he fixed it and it someone over heated it 2 weeks later and blew it again.

It will start and run, struggles to build RPM and feels really low on power. There is exhaust coming from the radiator cap as well.

What other problems should I investigate? How big of a pain in the ass is it to work on one of these?

        OPTION A
        1. Remove Cylinder Heads
        2. Take Removed Cylinder Heads to Reputable Machine Shop
        3. Have Reputable Machine Shop Magnaflux & Pressure Check Heads
        4. If Within Budget have Reputable Machine Shop Surface Heads and Perform Necessary Repairs to Heads

        OPTION B

Too much of a bother to mess with, Pm me with an address and I'll take it off your hands.

Thought it was another. Seems a common issue.
