  • How do I know what shifter?

I was under the impression my car had the stock shifter, but I'm starting to think I have a short throw. I just took the boot off and Its pretty chrome. I also watched a video with a stock/short comparison. Is there anything written on the shifter that would tell me?

Most aftermarket shifters will have a engraving or a marking of some kind on the base of the shifter. Some also have certian visual characteristics that set then off from other shifters.

I keep reading about them. What sets those apart from others? Probably picking one up for the 08 soon and want some real world info.

MGW is the best shifter I've ever rowed gears with!

Fully adjustable, clean and precise shifting feel. It's a very solid piece, no play in it at all and never a question which gear you are going into.

Yeah, just like Steve said. Very positive feel on shifts, you can adjust the angle of the handle, very tight throw and very good quality. I had one in my Mustang for over 5 years and loved it every day.

Mine (and I assume Steves) was in a new edge on a 3650. I know Treadhead had one on his s197 Kyle, I would ask him how much he liked his.

Kyle, in my old 01 I had a Steeda Tri-ax, POS! I never ever missed 3rd gear until I had that hunk of crap! When I got the turbo's installed, I went with the MGW, great shifter!

After I added the Tri/Ax on my 03 I never missed 3rd again. I loved that shifter so never felt the need to pick up an MGW.

< I have the Steeda Tri-AX and i have missed third.....REAL NOTCHY shifter but feels almost identical to the PRO 5.0 shifter in my opinion.....although i have learned how to "not miss 3rd" with the Steeda now. BANG THAT BITCH!!!!!!

An MGW is shifting nirvana. Kind of makes driving anything that doesn't have one a little annoying.

Never had an problem with a Tri-Ax myself. That being said I would likely go instead with a MGW today, but they were not being made yet for the T3650 when I was in the market.
