  • T5 rebuild near NFTW

Anyone know a good guy or shop that rebuilds t5's near North Fort Worth? How much does a rebuild usually run? Or is it cheaper to buy a rebuilt or new one.

Apparently grinds in 2nd and reverse. Common issue I know. On a potential car buy.

They'll all grind in reverse, theres no syncro.

Second gear could be a syncro or a shift fork.

Shift forks are $20 and can be fixed very easily.

They don't have to grind when shifting into reverse. Sure if you just try to ram it home every time it'll grind. Normally if you shift into 3rd or 5th first it will go into reverse without a hitch.

And if you don't do that, it'll always grind.

I have one in the 90 and in the 68, no grinds ever into reverse.

The one in the 68 has been behind the h/c/i 351 for years of abuse with hard launches on drag radials. No problems yet.

Not saying that's typical, I think I'm just lucky. I have tore up a few before this one but for some reason the one I'm on now just won't die. Knock on wood.
