All joking/bullsh*t aside, I need help.

My 05 vw gti started having problems a few days ago. It would turn over, idle rough, then cut right off in 2 secs. After letting it sit for 30 min it turned on and ran fine. I got gas last night then went to walmart in my car and then drove home. This morning it would turn over but wouldn't start at all.

I've already checked the basics like the chip in the key, the fuel pump, the battery, etc.

I'm thinking it is water in the gas cause that has happened to me a few times with other cars. It could also be the fuel filter is too dirty/clogged but could it be a sensor?

I do have a slight wiring problem. But it only involves my stereo and my blinker noise.

Anyone know what it could be?

Different make but my wife's Nissan did something very similar a few months back when it was getting really cold... Ended up being a cold crank sensor...

Stop getting gas there first off. Do fuel filter and plugs since they're just normal maintenance items which are likely due for replacement anyways. See if that makes any improvement and go from there.

The starting after 30 minute thing sounds like a sensor to me. Most likely the crankshaft position sensor. You need to check the fuel pressure to be sure though. Also, those VW's are touchy as hell about aftermarket radios since most of the data link goes through the radio. This is one reason that I HATE these cars so much. Honestly, if you don't have anyone that can fix it, you are going to be paying a metric shit ton to get this fixed at VW.

1.8t? Check the coils, more importantly the wiring harness that connects to the coils, they are bad about deteriorating and causing problems.

OP - Take the car to Autozone, they'll code scan it for free. Now, don't take their code scan as gospel, but it will give you a good idea what's wrong with it.

we used a code scanner and cleared it and my car ran fine. it shows the epc but it wouldnt show code numbers so i drove it for a while then ran a vagcom on it and it showed everything passed. my guess is a sensor too, however I wasnt leaning toward that in the beginning... but now upon ruling everything else out yes, it is 99% likely to be a sensor.

and of the 3-4 times ive had bad gas it was strung out between 4 years and always the clifford qt location and no im not the only one so its not just me. a few people ended up having qt pay 500 to flush out their whole system because of water in the gas. also recently on the news it showed that someone had gotten gas there and later their car broke down and when they took it in half the tank was pure water on a full tank of qt cliffords gas so no more qt for me. it seems to only be that location though which is the only place i was going to.
