          It's an accomplishment, no doubt I'm just trying to tell you there's better ways of going about it. If you're going to take your tuner's advice why even come on here and ask for everyone else if you're just going to tell them they're wrong? Tons of these guys have built very similar combos - and several did it in high school too.

            nope, balancing and what not is just for higher hp precisions motors. I usually do it if I have the engine apart but thats not unless you want to start spending lots of $$

              I could be wrong, but I felt that there needed to be some clarification. If buying a factory short block you don't have to get it balanced as it was balanced from the factory. If you are rebuilding and you change any part of the rotating assembly you need to have the whole assembly re balanced.

                Really? I've heard from several places that that was only to get it perfect.

                I think I'm going to rebuild my block with some used 03 cobra internals

                  Are you using the complete rotating assembly from the 03 and have the pistons and rods marked as far as which hole they came from? The assembly needs to be balanced as a complete assembly, if it was done from the factory then that's fine, but you cant mis-match parts and expect everything to be okay. Even 2 of the exact same pistons will weigh differently and can throw off the balance.

                      Just depends Id say, the tolerances wouldn't be as close as if you balanced and blue printed all the parts

                          my be okay for a grocery getter, but for a high rpm boosted motor i'd say it is cheap insurance and should be considered

                            meh, that cobra won't spin any sort of high rpms. most of my cars will rev 9000+ thats where you'd want it all baalanced and blue printed.
