My suggestion would be find a nice, gently used KB/Whipple on SVTP for about $1500 bucks and put that on to make a reliable 600rw. Don't worry about making "big power" cuz it's WAY too damn expensive for you right now.
Id have to do c heads to do that.

I'll probably just throw 18lbs of boost and a lot of timing at it first. It'll make 550 no prob.

Doubtful. At least not with the head unit you have now.

Si trim upgrade do the trick?

Suppose to be effiecient up to 18lbs and make more power. Car will have ic or meth on it as well.

i say put a T-trim on it. with 4.10s i don't think it will be a problem...so what if its a little lazy in the lower rpms...you want that top end pull with a centrifugal and a 4V anyway.

however, the idea of going from a good aluminum block to an iron one doesn't make too much sense even if it's already built. how many miles are on the 03/04 shortblock

Still in the planning stages. 03 shortblocks can be had for $1500 with 70k or less.

It depends on what you want out of the car honestly. The problem with a mod motor with a centri blower is they need alot of RPM to get into boost which isn't really a good street setup. They build boost through the powerband rather than instant boost from a turbo or twinscrew blower. That's why 03/04 Cobras are so popular really is how easy they are to make fast with near instant boost.

Think about it, how many 03/04 Cobras do you see on the street? Not many if any at all. The ones you see at the track have big blowers on them and launch at a really high RPM and powershift 7krpm+ to keep the revs up and in boost. Not the greatest street setups by any means. Mod motors lack in the torque department, which is why they need so much boost help.

With the setup you are thinking about doing, you'd still get walked quite abit. A pullied Cobra making around 460rw would still walk on your car making around the same power jumping out on you on the hit because of the powerband/torque difference. Remember how hard my car jumped on the hit? Your centri car won't do that. You'd be playing fetch all the time and when people see you coming they just hit the brakes. I had the same issue with my 93 Cobra when racing 03/04's. I made 540rw and still had to play catch up. It gets old.

HotRod magazine made like 1100 hp out of a junkyard 4.8 LSX with eBay turbo, just saying.

while i agree with what you say, if a quick street car is what he's after i still the centrifugal is the way to go.
true, he will have that nice low end torque hit with the PD blower, but what tire is he running? whats his suspension set up? if both aren't decent he will probably go up in smoke and while that's fun, it doesn't win races.

with the vortech, he can get the car moving a little more aggresively without blowing the tires away and once he's moving roll into the throttle and since the boost is linear off he goes. This was always my experience with the s-trim vs PD blower or nitrous cars that were similar to mine...sure from a dig or slow roll (if the "hooked" decently) they would get the jump on me, but i would usually reel them in and pass them.

also the tune will help you out OP...with the lower CR, you can add more timing. my 01 GT made boost from ~2800 rpm all the way to when i shifted @ 6500, which was a peak of 10lb. it was plenty fun on the street and pretty quick for what it was back in the day.

My car is making 12lbs @ 6250rpm. It starts making boost around 2400 with the new pulley.

My car has a 31 spline rear with spherical uppers, maximum lowers with a reloc. Bracket and Kyb gas adjust shocks. With 305 nitto 555r's, 4.10's and 415rw I murder the tires 1st and 2nd

Why not enjoy the car for a while. With the power you make now you already said you just blow the tires off. So what's the point? You plan on turning the car into a drag car? When your motor gives up build your Teksid. Same with your trans..when it needs it fix it. You're young why not save that money to put towards getting out on your own?
