  • 9" gurus- question about carriers

I have two 3rd members, one is a 3.50 open differential, one is a 4.11 mini spool.

The 3.50 came stock, and I bought the 4.11 under the impression that it was also open, but it turned out to be a mini spool.

Can I take the open differential guts out of the carrier & install them in the 4.11 carrier (after removing the mini spool, of course)?

What I don't want to do is completely disassemble the 4.11 & pay someone to put that ring/pinon on my open differential, but I will if I have to.

btw, what might i be able to sell that mini spool for?

Yep. I've run the 4.11 already, and when I discovered that it was a mini-spool (never knew what different carriers looked like before this venture), I yanked it back out; previously, it plugged in just fine. I counted the splines when I bought it as well, to be sure.
