  • Changing Trans Fluid on High Mileage 2006 Mustang

I drive a 2006 Mustang 4.0 Auto with Pony Package with 160,000 miles on the car. Had this car since it was Brand New. Here lately it just doesnt seem to have the pep it used to when I jump on it from a 60 punch to pass. It just seems lazy & slugish.

Should I just leave it alone or change the Trans fluid & just not flush the trans, But just change the Fluid in the transmisson? I remember it sometimes being better to leave it alone or is it safe to change out the trans Fluid. Just dont have it flushed

    Seb's high class.
    He'll mow your grass.
    He'll kick your ass.
And while his kidney stones pass,
    He'll piss in a glass!

Its the Baby Mommas car. But I drive it more then she does now. I gave her a 06 Camry XLE with 17,000 miles on it that my Grandmother left to me & its not my style. thus I drive her mustang when I need it. But yes your right. I didnt put all those miles on it

I'd leave it alone. I wouldn't risk it at that mileage.

I'd do it, but only if its shifting in all gears, if it slips at all, then your probably wasting money. Filter, fluid, clean pan/magnets and than yank a cooler line off and pour that high dollar mercon 5 in till it runs clean.
