Any alternative to hood pins?

I've never used hood pins on my fiberglass hood (5 years) and never had a problem until the last 6 months. My hood came up on me in August and again last week. Taking back to the shop next week (California Collision). I thought the first time I left the hood unlatched. I know I didn't this last time. I check everytime I get in it now because I have to drive until I get it to the shop.

Is there any alternative to hood pins?
Is there an aftermarket latch I can install?
Any other way to secure the hood?

If not, which hood pins are the best? Not crazy about the ones that have lanyards.

I had put some on mine for that simple reason.

You don't have to use the lanyard. The only reason the lanyard is there is to keep from losing the pins when you have the hood off.

I was thinking about the aerocatch ones for my truck, anything above 70, it looks like the hoods going to fly up.

marty, he's the one that owns the car just like yours. He's using the same buttons we talked about - I didn't look at the links above, but I'm willing to bet it's either what he has, or one just like it

No fabrication required. Mine are connected directly to the upper rad. support.

How many are you using? They show to have two sizes, mini and fullsize. The mini's are $22 a piece online but the fullsize ones are $350!!
