  • 2007 to 2009 Suburban Owners?

Anybody out there own one? What has been your experience with it?

Looking to go from my 2008 Ram over to the Big SUV for more practical use for track weekend support. Trying hard to find a 6.0 but 99.9% are 5.3's.

How are they for longevity? I am finding most in the 70-75k mile range and wonder what the life is like on the engine/trans. Can they go 150k miles without too many problems. Found a couple nice ones can't decide on cloth or leather. Likely pulling the 3rd row seat and storing it for the space.

Thanks for any input....and yeah, I know, it will drink gas.

not a '07-'09 but the drivetrains are essentially the same. I have an '01 with the 5.3 and it does pretty good. I havent ever towed with it though. Im at 140k and it still runs good. It has pretty bad piston slap on cold mornings but after a quick warm up its good to go.

The tranny seems solid. I noticed the other morning that it seems like its slipping just a bit. I dont know if its just the converter I feel or the tranny itself. We take two big trips a year and Ill probably throw a new tranny in it this year before we go anywhere just for peace of mind. I hear they go about 150k before needing replacement and about $1500 for a rebuild.

Oh milage seems to be about 15mpg no matter how I drive or how much weight I have. I have 4 kids though so I need all the space otherwise we would be rocking a smaller car for sure.

The drivetrain should hold up fine. I have 170K(mostly highway w/ a little hauling) on my 08 Sierra and haven't had any problems. I couldn't see where a Suburban would be that much harder on the engine/trans.
