  • 93 octane tune?

I just picked up my 2011 GT last weekend and have been reading about 93 octane tunes. Can someone explain to me how a 93 octane tune would be benificial? They are tuned from the factory to run on 93 octane, I guess I must have missed something.

Higher octane, which is slower burning allows for more timing to be used = more power

So a custom 93 octane tune is an improvement over the stock factory tune?

Factory tunes are typically very conservative due to they don't expect everyone to abide by the reccomended fuels. If the factory tuned to the edge like a custom tuner does, then the non-car type people who know nothing about detonation would be blowing shit up all the time causing a warranty nightmare for Ford.

Yes, a tune specifically setup for your car can be beneficial...

Seriously you freaking crotchety old man?

            Seriously?

You remember when the T/A got torque management deleted?
Remember when timing was added and fueling cleaned up?
Remember the Great Depression and how good it was to get out it?

Get the thing tuned, increase gas mileage, have more power.

CAI, Tune, Lowering Springs, and maybe a converter.

            Car would be awesome.

              This guy has a T/A that went 5.45 @ 129.5 with a soft 1.29 60ft and he's asking if tuning is beneficial.

I knew he was old and drifting to senility, but I didn't think he was that far gone...

Oh wow! lol. Yeah, I would definetly think he would know better. Perhaps he's just being facetious in his posting.
