  • MAF Conversion Problems

    I have a 86 Convertible 5.0HO, I wanted to swap it to mas-air and I ordered a kit from ebay and got the MAF sensor here. The car before the conversion was running decent, but just had no balls.. I was going to do a cam in the car later so that's why I went ahead and did the conversion. I moved the two wires around and also put the wires in 4 sensor wires in the places that they needed to be. The computer is a A9L. When I went to start the car it would REV up for one second and die instantly. I throttled the car and got it to idle but it idled ruff. like it had a miss in it. I tried to drive it a bit and it was hell just to keep it running. I dont know what to do at this point but it also didnt seem to want to rev over 4000RPM any help would be bad ass... Thanks in advance

    Unplug the MAF sensor and see if it runs any better. It could be a bad MAF.

      Did you unplug the vacuum line to the MAP sensor on the firewall? For mass air it reads atmospheric pressure. Black larger sensor on firewall with a larger vacuum line to it. More towards the drivers side.

              Clean the meter wiring. I would pull the electronics off the meter housing & clean it with Electronic Wiring Cleaner & re install it.

                Well I dont think its the meter. The car starts and idles up to 2500 or so and dies instantly..

                    I bought a harness from a 89 ecu and inj. With the computer is there any other stuff to do besides plugging it all in?
