  • Strange noise...

So this morning I get about 15 minutes from the house and start hearing what sounds like
An exhaust noise coming from the right side front. When I let off throttle I hear what sounds like popping coming from the hpipe/cats/mufflers. I dont notice any power loss but I babied it to work. Under the hood I can hear a muffled hiss from the car's right side but did not have time to poke around much. any ideas? Thanks.

Did you have work done to it recently? Sounds like it could be a burnt hole in AC line

I haven't had any work done recently. I am leaning towards exhaust leak. Got some time to look at it at lunch and on the lower left back side off the engine ok hear a gurgling sound. I dont see anything visually that shows me where the problem is at. I have to drive to burleson from basswood in. traffic today. Is there any damage that might happen in doing so?

          Is this on a fox?

If it is, the smog pump check valve will make a bunch of wierd noises if the hose isn't present and the belt is still on it... (which is exactly what most people do)

I'm guessing smog pump or heater core.

I had a noise like this on my fox a long time ago and it was an exhaust leak at the header flange to the head.

The bolts have a tendency of backing off. Get stage 8 locking header bolts to remedy, if this is your problem.

Thanks for all the info guys. I will be digging into it this weekend. Monday I did look at all the bolts and they looked set. I will check them more thoroughly though. Thanks again.

And it is on a fox.

Finally got under it and found that an O2 sensor had come out. Replaced it and it fixed the problem as well as an idle issue I was having.
