  • Pad knock back?

    Shit is driving me crazy.

I have new wheel bearings, rotors and pads.

The rotors are not warped and they do not "wiggle".

Here is what happening, the brake pads make a rattling sound when going over bumps, and when you hit the brakes it stops. When rolling to a stop sign up. Can hit the brakes and the pedal will go down further then normal and sometimes you can actually hear the pad slam into the rotor.

So Something is knocking the pad back, where do I go from here?

That'll stop the rattle. But what about the slack in the pedal?

They work when I press the pedal, just getting pulled back in?

Did you make sure the bolts holding the caliper bottomed out properly?

They are shouldered caliper bolts, and they are in as far as they'll go.

                Anything else special to this?

The shouldering is why I asked. I've seen folks get hung on a pad and think it went in all the way.

No clips in my set up. They're part of the pads themselves.

They're in all the way, I'd notice the bolt not going in right, lol.

I don't recall when this happened before or the situation, but when did you do your brakes and when did it start doing the knocking again?

It has done it since I got the car.

Every symptom you describe now has happened from the beginning and whenever it was that you did your brakes changed nothing?

Yes, I have got two different sets of pads, new rotors and bearings.

The only thing not new in the front is the calipers and hoses.
