  • porting heads

A guy is claiming he has afr 165 heads "that have been bored out to 185 specs" and then he listed the exhaust and intake sizes. Does this even make sense? Its an incorrect statement right? Tia

It's been so long since I've looked at heads for a mustang, but I think the 185s have bigger valves if I remember right. Can't remember the main differences.

"Bored out" is a commonly misused term for some people. 185's have larger valves, 2.02 I believe. I think the actual port entry size should be the same between the two. 165's can be ported and fitted with larger valves to increase flow to 185 levels, yes.

Well in the receipts he'd has one from afr. It is an 8 count of part number 7204 and he has another receipt from the machine shop that says" afr 194-202 heads" then it talks about vavle seals, vavle locks, cut for larger vavle, vavle job and set springs, and fly cutting pistons.
So I guess these heads were worked over like he said. Does this mean they are every bit of 185 now?
