  • Porting questions.

How much does porting typically cost?

I'm not big on machine shop prices, and to be honest dont have much knowledge in that area of expertise.

Thinking of doing cobra intake with gt40 heads, also thinking of getting them ported depending on the cost of something like that, maybe even do some milling and cutting the intake for an increase in compression.

    I'd like 280+ rwhp.

Foxbodynick has a Anderson b25 cam w/ 1.7 rockers that has my interest for this build.

    Thoughts?

If you're going to troll, post elsewhere. I don't need another useful thread locked due to bullshit.

    Thanks.

Cutting the intake will not bump compression but milling the heads will. Porting cost is really a workers market. It can vary from place to place. You should plan to spend prolly $1500 for heads and intake ported. Which is not worth it. If you could find someone to gasket match everything would be your best and cheapest route. Prolly spend a few hundred gasket matching. But 280 would not be hard to reach with careful planning and assembly with those parts.

Yeah I know on the intake, but when you mill heads you should always cut the intake to realign the ports, just bad wording I guess.

I may just have them milled, valve job and gasket match the intake. $1500 on porting is not worth it, for that I could get brand new AFR or Brodix castings and be in another tier of performance.

Or do some home porting just to clean up the castings.

Yea but keep in mind minimal is optimal. If you can gasket match would be your best bet. Or bribe someone to do it for you.

Contact T Moss over at the Corral for intake porting. He has a factory part mustang making 280+ to the tires. Look at thumper performance for the heads. He has a reasonable GT40 CNC program. I'm about to remove my GT40 heads and Intake off my Cobra and sell them. They have both been extensively ported. Heads are converted to stud mount, and have larger valves. Pm me if interested.

Any dyno info or track times ? This would be a good way to go Mike if they work well .

What happened to Loyd Elliot? He would port a set of heads and intake pretty cheap.

you dont have to mill the intake unless you angle mill the heads or just plain mill the FUCK out of them...

im putting together a little somethin that has over .030 cut off the heads ...should be a fun torque motor especially when coupled with this cam

That B 25 has .544 lift with 1.7's. I'd damn sure run some good springs and definitely check the PTV clearance.
