I wouldn't let geography stop me from using John Kaase's shop as long as I was prepared to pay his prices, which aren't cheap. I'd definitely be using one of his oil pumps on any BBF I built. Those guys do everything right.
you bet your balls they are P-51s, ported too. 420cfm @ .6 lift. Made 950HP in a 580ci race gas motor. I'm hoping for as close to 800 as possible on pump swill. Will likely use his oil pump too if I can find a deal on one, but using his shop will likely be way outta my budget. I called Reher MOrrison and they wanted 6k for just a basic rebuild.... I bet Kaase is around the same price plus shipping.... Yikes

You could always run some E85. But you'll get there with enough cubes. I'll bet you have seen it but just in case you haven't, this thread has some interested information:

IDT block, Scat 4.500 4340 crank, 6.8 inch rods with 2000 bolt up grade, 4.530 bore BRC custom flat pistons, Comp roller cam, Danny (B) belt drive, Kaase oil pu

The guys at BF Evans really know how to put a BBF together and that site as well as 460Ford.com are treasure troves of information on those engines.

E85 is too tough to find in south dallas. 547 cubes plus 11:1 compression plus giant carb and heads that flow massive amounts of air I think I could get close... only thing is I don't want to sacrifice reliability to do it

And yeah, I've been lurking on those sites for years. Thats where I've got most of the parts I've collected for this build. I got the heads from Charlie Evans on 460ford.com and the stroker kit and SV1 from 429-460.com. Got great deals on all the parts

Awesome, should be an interesting build. I'd like to do something with a C head on it but not sure what direction to take.

If he knows big Fords I'd be willing to give them a call, Balch Springs is not far at all.

hes very attention to detail. He has fixed things for me others said was impossible (dohc heads starved for oil). He does everything in house except cutting cranks and cams. He is a "different" individual, but I wouldnt call him weird. SUPER nice guy, and does EXCELLENT work.

Indeed. And the things work really well. There is a reason why they are outlawed in some racing classes.

My favorite is this guy in Australia who built a 608 ci C headed engine for his Falcon:

Reher Morrison wanted 6k for just an engine refresh. An entire build and dyno tune would be way too much.

Chebby guys cry and Ford guys can't use all the good parts thus making the Fords less popular and therefore more expensive thus perpetuating the myth that Fords are expensive and/or don't make power. Happened to the 4v Cleveland heads and then the 2v heads in smaller race classes. If they weren't outlawed, Cleveland guys would have more aftermarket head and intake options and would have had them a decade ago. Same with the BBF.... so sad...

Thats a nasty build. I'm gonna notch the towers in my Torino when I pull the motor, too bad its not to fit C heads between them.
