Has the driver door be worked on/repaired/replaced? grab the wire boot in the jamb and move it around while operating switches. Any change? The interior light is controlled by the door latch. If the wiring in the boot is broken or worn, I would think moving the wires around would cause it to work/not work. There are a few cars like Honda Civics that over time, will break every wire in the boot from opening/closing the door.

I did notice that while I have the mirror defrosters on, when i open the door i don't get a chime nor the 'door open' light on my dash. turn off mirror defrost - and it works.

Found a pair of broken wires in the rubber tube between door and body.
A 10/12ga black wire that looks to be hooked to master window lock switch. Also found a baby blue 18/20ish ga wire broken that powered (i think) the keyless entry doorpad. Didn't have a soldering gun on hand so butt connected them for now with the intention of going back w solder.
All works now.. I'm happy.
