My factory 87 speed density motor, idles at 1k. I turned it down too 500 and it sounded great but couldn't run for shit so I put it back at 1k. I had the same problem on my last car and I forgot where to start looking.....

Base idle reset.
However, I have found that a lot of foxbobies idle around 850-900 when the factory tach says 1000.
Look for cracked vacuum lines as well. -

Yeah, it's idling too high. LOL.
Check for the vacuum leaks, then look up "Base idle reset". I can't recall all the steps from memory.Comment
