Alternator question.. What is a baffle?

Does anyone know what a "baffle" on an alternator would be?

Powermaster's tech line is closed today, I have called a few performance places and they do not know. Google is also not much help.

I am trying to compare these two alternators and the only difference is a baffle. Would like to find out today because I have a one day only 20% coupon code.

lol...Summit Tech came up with the answer of it is the fan blade that looks like a solid disc from the front view.
