I'm sure the big AFRs flow just as well, but they're also more expensive and I've seen enough minor guide and seat issues to keep me away.

Mike, I've got a stout hydraulic roller out in the garage that you can have. You can't run the stock pistons with it, hahaaa.

That's a big ass cam. Lol what did you plan on putting it in?

Canfield 195's, custom solid roller cam, TFS-R or Spyder. Make sure the block is zero decked and make about 10:1 comp. a similar combo was done to a 289 and made 430hp.

I have seen every safety device installed on a N20 car and the motor threw a rod out the side because of all the added torque coming off the line...

Not a good idea with a "stock" block Mike
naaa i ran a 150 shot on my hci car for a while.

Mike my suggestion would be afr 165's, trickflow stage 2 cam, holley upper and lower intake, 70mm tb, lightning mass air, long tube headers, and a tune. This should easily net you 300-320 rwhp..

i would love to see what it does.. i would want a snow kit and a little more boost eventually.. i had a full suspension aod car with a A-trim and while it wasnt very fast but it handled awsome and i loved the way it sounded!

Thats some serious rpm though. The last high rpm 308 I built cracked the block down the center and it wasn't making a ton of power.

All of the major brands have a setup that will net 300rwhp under 6k rpm. TFS is great for pure bolt on power. The high ports are still great at higher rpms, but I remember them needing different headers.

I would examine my budget and what is available, then pick a combo that matches up with the rpms you are comfortable with.

7400 isn't THAT high. Actually I think he said he shifts at 6800. All done with stock rods, crank, and plain Jane TRW flat tops. That's the same rotating assy that I have...hmmm....

Car Craft bought a pretty beat stock red '87 coupe and installed a hellion street heat kit, they say 441hp. Just food for thought.
