  • Stock 302 heads cam intake builds

Tossing around some ideas on top end parts for the coupe.

What have you guys had? How well did they run? What power/torque did they make? And how was the power band?

I wanting some aluminum heads, an intake and maybe a cam.

    Thanks.

I'm wanting 300+ rwhp. If possible, most builds I see are 280-290rwhp

        Mike,

How about adding a TMS Turbo Kit. Call Clint and ask him what it made on another customers "bone stock" car.

I am doing a mild 306, GT40P Heads, Holley or Trickflow Intake, B Cam, and TMS Turbo Kit. Clint feels that my car will make every bit of 475 - 500 HP and be very mildly mannered on the street.

My worries with that is the stoke block going out.

Ive seen stock bottom ends make 560+ rwhp and hold fine. Just iffy

300 rwhp is easy. Back in the late 90's I made somewhere around 350 to 360 rwhp with the following top end parts. Car was a 5 speed 89 hatch and ran consistent mid 11's on slicks and skinnies.

            GT40 U/L intake - lower was ported
World Products Windsor Sr. aluminum heads 2.02/1.60. Some port work.
            Comp XE282HR-12
            70mm TB
            77mm Pro-M
Compression was about 9.5 to 1

Hell, I'm pretty sure I still have all these parts laying around minus the throttle body. I could make someone a good deal. I don't need them any more.

Forgot to mention. I used the same topend on a 331 stroker, combined with a Vortech B-trim and the car made mid 500's to the rear. And, ran mid 10's at almost 130mph in the 1/4.

and the motor will go BOOM! All it takes is one thing to fail on N20 that you forgot about and your motor is toast!

I have seen every safety device installed on a N20 car and the motor threw a rod out the side because of all the added torque coming off the line...

Not a good idea with a "stock" block Mike

I've still have the intake, heads and I think that same cam. I would have to dig it out and see for sure. I've either got the cam that I mentioned above or a Comp NX282HR-14. The NX cam is more suited for nitous or a blower but, it would still work fine for an N/A combo. I sold one of them, just don't remember which one.

I've also still got the Pro-M mass air too. However, it is setup for 75lb. injectors. It would have to be recalibrated.

Mike, I have a pretty good hook up on brand new heads. My motor isat truestreet being assembled and when I get the numbers I'll let you know how they did.
