  • Tunnel ram style intakes?

I've been doing some looking around at what people were doing in the 90s with foxes, alot of thr faster cars were using tunnel ram intakes.

The brand I remember is the downs intake. They are just upper intakes that bolt to a stock lower or gt40 lower. It seems like those would make good top end power.

So my question is why don't you see them in modern builds?

There was a car at the dyno day with one and it made good power. 502rwhp with 306 15psi centri charged and some aluminum heads. I forget the brand.

Where abouts would you find an intake like this?

I'm considering one with a build I have in mind.

    320rwhp. 7.67 @ 90mph 1.7 60'

      Explain?

Seems to be the same concept of a sheet metal intake, just bolt on.

Let's just look at it from a non technical stand point. Technology has advanced over the past 20 and you don't see them for sell much now, hmm I guess there are better things out there. Any thing like that would require a ton of rpm to get things moving.

they arent tunnel rams, theyre "breadboxes" they work great with boost and high rpm engines, none of which you have. They do still have them, check out the tfs-r box

I've been looking at what people were doing back in the day with 3/4 cams and fuel catalysts

Looking at an add right now and they're labeled tunnel rams.

Yeah the tfs box would be a modern style.

                Boost? Hmm...

                      Not flipping the headers.

What was that crazy expensive intake that had the split runners and front facing TB? I believe it required an angled distributor. Why not run one of those with some Brodix heads, solid cam and a Novi 1000. That's a step back in time.
