  • Now What?

I know there is always something to be done as far as power adders. Nothing was more evident than last night when I got spanked by a 04 cobra. I don't know where to go from where I am at now and i'm sure some of you guys will probably have some good ideas. Right now my 92 fox body has a 306 in it, an F303 cam, and 1.7 rockers. I put on the trickflow twisted wedge track heat top end kit. I wanted something streetable but still quick. The engine was re-built which is where I may have made a mistake. in my lack of knowledge I went with Kieth Black hyperutectic pistons and my comp. is 9.5.1 For the most part i'm happy with it but just like the next guy, i'm looking for the next thing to go faster. I thought about spraying but i'm worried the pistons wouldn't hold up. I'd like to S/C it but didn't want to spend a huge amount of money when something like n2o is so tempting. Just a project during the cold months let me know what you guys think and where I should go next.

Bluecouperedvert was selling an old sn-89 paxton blower for pretty cheap it's probably still in the classifieds somewhere. His 90 coupe made 335rw with ONLY an e-cam and cobra intake.
I'd be cheap, streetable, and pretty dang quick.

if budget is your main concern, i'd go with the nitrous. the kieth black pistons are fine as long as you have enough fuel to support the nitrous. you can get away with 100-125 easily and that should be putting you in modified termy territory with the weight advantage you already have.

if you are really concerned with the detonation from the nitrous i would suggest picking up a used water meth kit off of corral forums classifieds to use in conjunction with the nitrous. dry nitrous kit and water methanol would probably be the safest way.

i would think with those mods, h/c/i, 3:73's and a 5-speed you should be about even with a stock 03-04 cobra just because the fact your car weighs 300-400lbs less

of course this is with traction and driver mod

search corral.net for a cheap s-trim kit...you can find those things all day long for around 1,500 or less

Sorry I didn't specify all mods, I have 4.10s and it is a five speed re-built custom t5. I usually walk the stock termy cobras. we were doing a 60 roll on the freeway. he was heavily modded bigger supercharger and exhaust for sure. He pulled pretty hard and I couldn't hang much longer after the initial jump. Not complaining at all and I give the guy mad props for a sweet ride. It just woke me up and I realized that there are way bigger fish in the pool that I'd like to hang with.

347, get rid of the cam and intake, 11:1 compression. About the same price as an s trim.

i wouldn't buy a used blower unless it was local. i have had 2 cars that came with centri blowers, and both needed to be replaced. i even talked to vortech about getting a blower rebuilt, and they said sometimes it will last a while and sometimes it won't because the housing gets warped from heat cycling. my point is that if you get a used blower and it is crap, you will have a hell of a time getting your money back.
