      x2. i had 4.10's in my 95 cobra, then with in a week i switched to 3.73's you'll be cruising about 2200-2400 at 70mph. i think i'd like 3.55's even better.

At 70MPH, my Super Coupe is cruising 2400RPM with 3.27's. Damned M5R2 and it's .75 OD gear.

I would say that it depends on if you prefer 1/8 or 1/4. For the 1/8th I would go with 3.73's. If you run 1/4 mile with 3.73 gears you will be at the very high end of the rpm in 3rd gear when you hit the traps and if you shift into 4th you will slow down. I went with 4.10's so I could shift before the traps and still be in my power range.

He Is already at 5500 in 3rd in the 1/8. I am pretty sure h could not make it another 660' before tagging the rev limiter. On another note, shifting to 4th should not slow you down.

my girls gti runs 2800 at 70 which is stupid high, but i am used to driving v8's so maybe it's not.

Same with my old Saturn SL2. 4 bangers usually have really short final drive ratios. I think the saturn has something like 4.56's in it.

Go 3.55 with some spray. Mine couldn't even make 1/4 mile without running out of breath on top.

I have 4.10s and have to shift to fourth before the end of an 8th mile with my H/C/I setup. not as bad on the freeway as some people make it out to be. I can cruise at 60 all day long at 2000 rpm.

Well you would be wrong. I'm was running the same gear (3.73) and size tire (26 inc) and hitting the traps just before hitting the limiter in 3rd gear. And you will lose MPH if you shift into 4th just before you trap unless you're the superhero Flash.

Go 3:55's Homer, no cam, no heads, your just wasting gas with 3:73's or higher on a stock 5.0...
