  • Anyone seen a tire do this before?

Bought these tires in April or May, they are Firestone Wide Oval's, getting gas this morning I noticed this. I have certs on the tires but don't know what is and is not covered, I figure this should be (didn't hit anything or give it any reason to do this). Anyone had a tire do this before?

If it's Discount Tire, they should be covered. They will say it's "impact" damage.

Yeah my girlfriends taruas tires have done that a few times. They tried to say it was from someone cutting the tire... But eventually they were replaced. That was through discount tire though. I'd imagine firestone is more strict.

Defective tire. Tell them to replace it at no charge or be ready for a lawsuit when it lets go on the road.

"Resulting from road hazard (e.g. cut, snag, impact, bruise)"

Looks like as long as I have 2/32nd's of tread it should be covered under the road hazard.

The rim is the dead give-away.

I wish it worked that way, but a manufacturer will only prorate a defect. You still have to pay for the portion of the tire you used. This is a roadhazard though, so it should be covered by whatever warrenty you have.

Yes. When I hit something in the road. That will not be covered unless you opted for a road hazard warranty. If you didn't get the warranty you may be able to have them pro rate it anyway. You aren't going to convince them the tire up and did that all on its own especially with that profile. Just don't go in there and say some stupid shit like the following:
