Turbo question

Since I can't seem to sell this damn Powerstroke turbo, should I go ahead and use it on my 289? I was gonna get a T70 (or similar size) but my budget kinda needs the sell of this thing to support it.

The only issues I know about the PS is that it is huge, small turbine, and they have oiling issues. Is that enough to dictate not using it?

Yes. Get a properly sized turbo, they can be had for as little as $550, new.

What A/R is the turbine?

It has 1.10 stamped on it, that one?

Little big for a 289, be kinda laggy. I ran a .68 and stepped up to a .96 on my stock short block 302. So it could work, but maybe not optimum.

Ya, I've heard it's like a 67mm, then add the 1.10AR. Other people have run them on 302's, mine isn't too much smaller than that.

As I understand it with the powerstroke turbo its not the exhaust is the compressor side that has problems. I can't remember if its cause they choke or surge to much but either way not optimum and they have a funky oil drain setup. Ditch that thing, they aren't worth much and get the right turbo
