Probally bad 4x4 acuator.....pretty cheap part... -
It should spin the driveshaft if you lock the transfer case into 4wd. Is it electronic shift or manual shift on the transfer case?Comment

update. ds is spinning but wheels dont seem to be engaging. the switch that lights up the panel for 4wd also engages the thrmo whatever for the hubs doesnt it?07 f250-family truckster

Try one of these and be done. It replaces the eletric thermal actuator that engages the front diff.
I had one on my 93 Z71 and loved it. It also alows you to use the low gear in your transfer case in 2wdComment
