So, i was headed to work this morning..
jumped in the truck and let it warm up with the heater on (it's early and im a tropical people). I let it idle for a minute or so like usual and jumped on the highway.. my exit for loop 12 is just 3 miles away and as i was getting on i noticed that the heater was blowing ICE COLD AIR. fuck this.. so i turned it down, damn near off. About 2 minutes later i hear BING BING BING ""CHECK GUAGES"" light flashing.
pulled it over at a gas station and let it sit for a minute.. came back out and there was just a liiitle bit of fluid underneath. I started it back up and the temp was back at the halfway mark. I was just down the street from the shop, and a brotha really cant afford to be bein late so i limped it up to work. the temp crept to the 3/4 mile mark in the 1 mile or so til i got to work.
So i was in a meeting all day and came back out to the truck about 7 hours later. I could tell it had leaked fluid but it was all dried up. I limped it back to the gas station and added what seemed like gaaaalllons of water and a 1/4 jug of anti freeze. i could never get a full recovery in the resevoir under the hood (??) It would come up to about 1/4 and stay there no matter how much more water (maybe another 2 gallons, seriously) but it leaked no fluid as i was pouring it in...
it made it all the way home then with out "over heating" but it was puking fluid again by the time i got home.. and the check engine light came on..but i think the CEL is from me being tetarded and forgetting to put the radiator cap on when i first started the truck (??)
any ideas?
head gasket?
