I'm running a TH400 in my stang, JW bellhousing and JW flex plate, it has holes for ford or chebby converters in the flexplate, had to cut the stock bell off and bolt the JW bell on, made a crossmember and had a driveshaft made, the th400 is much stronger than a c4 for cheap, a good rebuild with a manual VB and a 34 element sprag will hold quite a bit of power

I've always heard how much power the TH400 uses over a TH350 or C4 but I personally know of a guy who actually picked up et going from a C4 to a TH400 in his race car. He and I were very surprised by the gains because we expected to lose some going to it from the extra weight and larger internals of the TH400.

While I don't doubt that at all, I suspect the gains were from a 'working' trans as opposed to a parasitic gain or loss.

For example, the C4 just not bieng able to take the power or the load, from say, a heavier car. I mean, you can turn the input shaft on a C4 with your bare hands pretty easy, but a TH400 takes some effort.

3100 lb car with a 418W on drag radials. Car went low 10.3x's with a C4 and high 10.1x's with a TH400. The car also 60' better which is where I suspect the gains mostly came from.

I also picked up going from a C4 to a TH400... Rossler promised me at least a tenth and I got about 2.

My c4's would only last about 50-60 runs before the 2-3 flare started...

Only thing I might change over the 400 is to a glide... (or a liberty!!!!)
