Torque box failure? Video included.

Ok, so for the last month I've been hearing a popping sound when I hit bumps and get In the throttle. But I couldnt replicate it until now.

It doesn't make any sounds when going up and down but when I shake the car side to side, it pops.



I know when they start to tear you can hear the contol arm bind and it makes a popping sound. Is this what that sounds like? I'll get under the car tomorrow in the day light and get a good look. Just seeing if this is what I'm looking at.

Just got underneath the car and the torque boxes are fine, but the control arm busings are toast. They are dry cracked and you can see clean steel on the control arm bolts.

The lower control arms seemed to have been at an angle and were very close to touching the box on the outer side.

So my question is, would dry cracked lower control arm bushings cause it to pop, like in the video? Seems plausible.

I've made about 20 passes on slicks launching around 3000rpm, I have subframe connectors aswell. I would imagine from that abuse the boxes should still be fine.

my car made similar noise/ my lca bushings were fucked...like free spinning in the control arm fucked LOL.....tubular lcas = issue solved. Id go ahead and have the tq boxes all welded up too

Mike, I have the rear end and the control arm bushing if you want them they are energy suspension and Prothane brand new. If you come to the cruise ill bring them ill let the go pretty cheap PM me if you do.
