Phenolic spacer?

Help or hurt @ the track? On a N/A 302 with H/C/I and all of the other bolt-ons. Right now it holds heat in the upper too long. If i lengthen the runners with cooler air, would the car pick up E.T. versus w/o the spacer? I already have a 1" spacer in the garage and cowl hood.

put a 6" spacer on it to match that cowl hood.
