my wife just handed me down her 2002 gt vert auto and was thinking of going to a standard... i have done this in many fox cars but wasn't quite sure of all that is needed with the newer cars computer? wiring? OR just go with a better converter for the auto? any help on making this slug a little quicker would be appreciated. already has 4.10's, k&n cold air, 2 cats removed, and bullshit superchips tuner. took it out last night and it went 9.40 in the eighth.

Irs a easy swap I've done it many times in 99-04 mustangs. You need a trans harness, pedals, few other parts that are easy to fine.
I have 3650 fresh from ford $700 in a crate.
Irs swaps are simple. Ive done atleast 6 of them in my own cars they handle great,

i paid alan @ dirty dog a chunk of money and briefly discussed the stock cam card specs of a windsor 4.6 2v. after a couple of weeks he sent me a 10" converter with all the goodies; anti-balloon, billet front cover, etc..My n/a 2000 GT improved 4/10ths in the 1/8th and my short times went from 2.00 to 1.7 launching only around 2400-2500rpm. and it drove like a stock car, except when reversing into a slanted driveway.lol anway..only made some slight tweaks in the lock up strategy in my sct tune. installed a external b&m super cooler to keep the trans temps in check. it was the best money spent out of all the mods i did to my car, second being 4.56 gears. the torque multiplication factor of the stock 11.25" 4r70w converter is around 1.7. my 10" dirty dog converter was in the ballpark of 2.4. it was a night and day difference with the clutch locked up. a quality torque converter (not an off the shelf saturday night special POS) will transform a 4.6 auto slush box turd into a very very fun stop light to stop light car.
